The Excalibur Hotel and Casino food court recently reopened after completing an extensive remodel. As the seventh-largest hotel in the world, the Excalibur food court hosts more than 7 million guests per year. This is part of a larger renovation process that has been in progress since 2010 to make the hotel one of the most modern in the world.
The new Excalibur food court offers a wide range of concepts, including Krispy Kreme, Auntie Anne’s Soft Rolled Pretzels, Popcornopolis, Hot Dog on a Stick, Tropical Smoothie Café, Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, Pick Up Stix and Cinnabon. In keeping with the hotel’s progressively modern styling plan that has been in effect for the last several years, a sleek alternative to traditional static signage was needed. Choosing WAND Corporation, the Excalibur food court now features content in full 1080p, including beauty shots, video and easy-to-read, crisp text on Panasonic TH-47LF30U professional LCD displays. The thin-bezel TH-47LF30U, equipped with a SLOT2.0 function slot, offers exceptional brightness (700-cd/m2) that accurately conveys information (9ms response), even in high levels of ambient light.
"WAND was chosen to be the partner for Excalibur based on their product, history of customer service excellence and overall experience," said spokesperson Lincoln Spoor. "No one else could deliver on the level, scope or complexity of such an undertaking in the time allowed."
The digital menu boards were deployed throughout the food court, reflecting the menus and brand identities of the eight different concepts. Through WAND Total Restaurant Management (TRM) software, authorized users can adjust, change, and update content and prices in minutes from anywhere in the world via an Internet connection.
"Freedom and speed were part of our decision," said Spoor. "In 2012, the ability to control change should be something I can hold in the palm of my hand."
Currently, the food court includes 17 47-inch Panasonic TH-47LF30U professional LCD displays as digital menu boards. Additionally, four displays are daisy-chained together as a video wall highlighting the different restaurants in the food court.
"In a QSR environment, we need displays that will attract the attention of potential customers with vivid, bright colors," said Rick Engels, vice president of business development at WAND Corporation. "In addition to screen brightness, the environment demands displays that are reliable and durable, able to perform the long hours required of a Las Vegas food court. After evaluating the TH-47LF30U, we have no doubt these displays will provide an eye-catching display solution for the Excalibur food court."
The Excalibur food court is the latest in a series of industry firsts for WAND Corporation, which has also provided menus for restaurants in hospitals, international airports, overseas, and in other unique and special venues. WAND and Panasonic will continue to work with the management at Excalibur to roll out additional content and digital signage equipment at additional concepts in the food court to optimize the end-user experience and franchisee’s profits.
