The importance of ergonomics on the factory floor continues to grow which is one reason why Panasonic developed this line of cordless assembly tools. The lightweight balanced design, cushioned grip and virtually no torque reaction, helps to reduce operator fatigue; therefore creating a better work environment. Error-Proofing / Poka-yoke
Quality control is always looking to improve their products and reduce the amount of defects. By utilizing a wireless communication and connecting the tool to a Panasonic Assembly Qualifier, batch counting and line control can be incorporated to prevent defects from moving down the assembly line. Furthermore, toque data can be transferred via Zigbee communication to an Assembly Qualifier controller for data collection. With the use of a bar code scanner or PLC, the torque data can be married to a serial number for more detailed data collection.
Intelligent Auto Shut-Off
Over torqueing, under torqueing and operator influenced torques are recurring issues in assembly. Panasonic's mechanical pulse tool alleviates those issues with an intelligent auto shut-off feature. The tool incorporates a CPU with an advanced algorithm (program), and during the rundown the CPU looks for the seating torque. Once the tool finds seating torque, the tool then switches to a torque calculation mode and shuts-off when final torque is achieved assuring accuracy and repeatability.
Twin Hammer Design
Twin Hammer patented design reduces the overall weight and vibration while increasing the output force and working speeds achieved by using an Inner (Primary) Hammer and Outer (Secondary) Hammer. The Primary Hammer transfers energy directly to the anvil while the secondary hammer provides the Inner Hammer additional force and acts as a shield for the Inner Hammer reducing the overall noise.
Quick and Easy Tool Programming / Operator Lockout
To safeguard tool settings, the tool is programed using a remote control which eliminates operators from tampering with the tool settings. The easy-to-use remote control can be used to enable features such as cross thread and rehit detection, cross thread reduction, maintenance interval alarm, buzzer, LED light and choose between a free running type joint or a prevailing torque type joint, obtain the model number and restore the tool to factory defaults.
Prevent operators from possibly over torqueing fasteners and insure overall product quality. Rehit prevention is a quick change of the tools program and it limits operators from pulling the trigger for a period of time between fasteners.

Under Torque Prevention
To prevent loose or under torqued fasteners, the CPU monitors the output torque of the tool. If the torque falls below the selected value due to battery power, the CPU automatically adjusts the tool to deliver the correct power which makes the tool very accurate and repeatable. As the operator runs the tool, the CPU monitors the battery level and when the battery no longer has enough power to reach the required torque the CPU automatically shuts down the tool to prevent under torqued fasteners.
Illuminating the Work Area
When activated a built-in LED light turns on to illuminate the assembly area for faster, easier and more accurate assembly. The LED light promotes visibility improving screw and bit placement therefore reducing cycle time. An additional feature of the tool to conserve battery power is an auto shut-off timer for the LED once the tool is not operated for 5 minutes.
High Capacity Lithium Battery
All of Panasonic's li-ion batteries are built with smart technology which constantly monitors the battery to prevent over-charging, over-discharging and it can shut down the battery under extreme temperatures. During the charging cycle, the smart board allows the battery to be charged quickly to 80% capacity then switches to a trickle charge to assure each of the cells are topped off evenly. Monitoring the voltage for over-discharge prevents users from running the tool after it reaches too low of a voltage which could damage the battery or the tool. Plus, if the battery temperature reaches critical levels an internal temperature sensor shuts down the tool to protect the battery. The battery is easy to remove using a simple slide-down release button.
